Boss Runs Company, Staff Run Boss' Life

Aussie men are proving to be the boss' crutch with 38% admitting to carrying out personal favours according to a survey conducted by Linkme.com.au, Australia's leading career building and networking site.

The men have outdone their female counterparts with 32% of women lending a hand when needed.

Surprisingly, 29% of male respondents admitted the top job they are relied on for is acting as a counsellor and giving relationship advice.

Campbell Sallibank, CEO of Linkme.com.au says:

"It is very interesting that employers go to male employees for relationship advice. Men are the unlikely choice to play the role of counsellor with women generally identified as relationship experts.

"When discussing personal issues at work you need to ensure you trust who you are talking to or office gossip can spread like wildfire. Especially if the gossip is concerning the boss' personal life!"

Jobs such as buying gifts for family (25%) and booking holidays (18%) have been left to female employees along with taking phone calls from the boss' partner (42%).

"Employers that delegate their personal responsibilities need to ensure that staff are able to get their job done and not push work aside to run errands."

Adding to staff workload, the boss' day to day demands include managing car maintenance (16%), helping with the grocery shopping (9%) and picking up and dropping off the kids from school (8%).
