Aussies would rather date tradies than doctors
Australian singles prefer to date tradies like carpenters, tilers and painters rather than professionals according to a recent survey of 950 people by Linkme.com.au, Australia's leading career networking site.
The least attractive profession to singles are psychiatrists, accountants, lawyers and doctors whilst the most desired are those who are good with their hands and have a trade behind them.
Mr Campbell Sallabank CEO of Linkme.com.au says Australians are becoming less concerned with titles and status and are more concerned with work not impeding upon personal time and the ability to live a healthier lifestyle free of the shackles of office life.
"Tradies work extremely hard however they are usually in an environment where it is acceptable to leave the job at 3pm enabling them to contribute more to family life. There is an idealized view of tradespeople. The life seems sexy: out in the sun all day, physical work, less stress and great pay - whilst the view of white collar positions is less glamorous.
"Professionals are seen to be more stifled and stuffy, less time independent, more constrained and less healthy.
"There may be a lesson in this for employers who perhaps could be offering gym memberships, flexi days, shorter hours and a dogs at work policy."
