Aussies Wake Up To Water Wastage At Work

In the height of the current drought crisis, a huge 66% of Australians believe their employers could be doing a lot more to save water at work according to Australia’s leading career building and networking site, Linkme.com.au.

According to a survey of 679 people, more than 53% revealed that their employers are not doing anything at all to save water.

More than 80% of workers are so concerned that they believe the government should intervene and tighten existing water conservation regulations for businesses.

Campbell Sallabank, CEO of Linkme.com.au said:

“Individuals are now making major personal sacrifices to save water and now expect their employer to do the same. Water conservation is now a central part of being a socially responsible employer.

“Businesses need to take the initiative to implement their own water rules and regulations and not wait for a government body to force it upon them. Not only will they be helping the environment, but they’ll be creating a workplace that staff, clients and partners are proud to be part of”.

savewater.com.au, Australia’s leading resource on water conservation says that learning how to adopt water efficient practices at work will save bucket loads.

“A typical 300 room hotel could save over 3 million litres of water a year simply by installing water saving showerheads,” said Nigel Finney, CEO of savewater!

“Factories and warehouses for instance have huge roof areas and should be installing rainwater tanks to run the toilets, showers and water recycling equipment for machinery.

“Every industry has a means to improving water usage – even offices. Water authorities are ready to help businesses design a practical water management plan and can even help with financial assistance to implement them.
