58% of Aussies work for below the par companies

58% of Aussies say their current employer is not ideal according to a recent survey conducted by Australia’s leading career building and networking site LinkMe.com.au.

After taking into consideration working hours, staff morale, industry, wages, image, charity support and career progression, the 2000 people surveyed predominantly believe their company does not quite make the grade.

CEO of LinkMe.com.au, Campbell Sallabank says 25.4% of respondents claim their companies record regarding staff morale is downright awful, 30% say their working hours are too long and inflexible, 59% report that their offices are shoddy and drab, and 32% say their wages are far too low.

“But 45.7% stick it out because they believe there are not many ideal companies to work for. Those that are deemed to be respectable and glamorous with great working conditions are few and far between and 33.1% say the competition is tough to get into those type of companies.

Only 17.2% said they believe they work for an ideal firm.

Predominantly staff moral (75%), wages (68%) and proximity to home (54%) are the factors considered when determining the ideal companies.

“Employers must realise that the Australian workplace is an environment of low unemployment so they need to provide better working environments or risk losing staff.”

“Workers should not hold back from trying to improve their office environment. There are all sorts of ways where employees can be successful in obtaining this but if attempts continually fall on deaf ears then voting with your feet is the best way to improve the situation as there are plenty of good employers out there.”
